It is well recognized that children with hearing loss have a difficult time closing the gap in vocabulary acquisition without intervention. This session will discuss the importance of vocabulary for language competence in spoken language and reading, as well as provide practical examples for supporting acquisition at all grade levels. Participants will gain a better understanding of the different kinds of vocabulary and how to increase vocabulary knowledge and use in and out of the classroom.
