Calendar Systems play an important role in developing, enhancing and expanding a student’s communication proficiency. Calendars can support a variety of communicative functions in a number of environments. Calendars can give a student something to anticipate. Calendar conversations make the student a partner in the conversation. Calendars provide students with immediate feedback in their efforts to communicate and calendars give the student multiple opportunities each day to have an interesting and well organized conversation. To show relationships between communication and calendar, we will explore communication forms/symbols, communicative functions, topic development and social conversations using a variety of calendars ranging from Anticipation Calendars, Daily Calendars, Calendars to teach Time, and Expanded Calendars.
